Release Notes: 7-6-201
Date: January 22nd, 2025
Overview: “A minor release with major impact.”
We’re all excited about starting 2025 out on a positive note, and even with this minor version release, we expect it to make a major Page Editor impact. We’ve improved the way zones are sized and adjusted. We’ve improved the way Zone Info is displayed and we’ve solved some errors that had an impact on workflow efficiency. Take a look at the New UI and experience the changes for yourself!
New Features
Page Editor Zoning
The Page Editor in the New UI has both improvements and new features designed to speed up the creation and adjustment of zones in Equidox. New UI zones can now be adjusted from the bottom and right-hand edges, for independent vertical or horizontal resizing. Zones are now more responsive and will no longer expand outside the page boundaries.
Enhancements
Friendly Warnings
Some of our export warnings are just informational and don’t require the user to take any action. Information-only warnings are still displayed boldly and in the default warning colors, but will have extended information about the steps that Equidox took to resolve the issue(s).
Resolved Issues
Misdisplayed zone info
Zone type or reading order would sometimes fail to be displayed when users changed from page-to-page or used the reading order function. Reading order and zone type now display correctly.
Group sharing fails
For customers who share documents with groups, they will no longer see an error message when sharing documents with odd filenames.
Go-To page entry retains focus
Many of the text input fields on the primary action bars would retain focus and prevent a user from using a desired shortcut on the first zone selected. Our developers are continuing to work through the secondary action bar and the zone properties input fields.
Quick Tips
Inkscape® & Canva®
Equidox is adapted to handle a large number of PDF producers with varying content and tagging structures; but sometimes those structures are outside of industry standards.
If you or your team experience difficulty importing documents created through Inkscape, Canva, or other online design utilities, here are some easy steps to take before contacting support.
Delete the existing tag structure from the document.
Open the Tags menu in Acrobat® and select the top level tag, it looks like this:
Right click and select “Delete Tag,”
Save the document. We suggest changing the filename to differentiate between the tagged and tags-removed version.
Import the document into Equidox
Change the creation method
Print the document to the PDF Printer rather than Exporting as a PDF from the original design application
We don’t recommend the Microsoft® Print to PDF option as it removes text-based content
